Dave Dunlay, co-host of The Breeze Canterbury 94.5FM with Hilary Muir answers 4 questions in 4 minutes for Grandparents NZ.
You have met some interesting people through your job on The Breeze, who is your most memorable?
Brother Abdul Azziz at the Linwood Mosque. He helped build the mosque several years ago and when we met him he was busy repainting and rebuilding after the recent shootings. His humility and compassion after such a tragic event was humbling.
What is your must have or go to winter item?
Our wood burner. All of us at home from the cat and dog to the family love the warmth and comfort it gives. They say a fire warms three times, once when you cut, again when stacking and finally when burning. Warmth for the home and the heart.
What would be a good theme song for your life and why?
Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds. ‘Don’t worry bout a thing cause every little thing will be all right’. Staying positive and optimistic helps cope with those times when life throws a curve ball at you.
What is your favourite thing about life in Canterbury?
The four seasons each year. From spring with the pink and white cherry blossom in Hagley Park through to the red, bronze and gold colours of autumn. Canterbury is an ever changing beautiful landscape of colour.
