Mark Richardson, co-host of The AM Show answers 4 questions in 4 minutes for Grandparents NZ
What do you like to do to stay fit and healthy?
I used to run marathons and then triathlons, but you know what – I don’t really think they’re that healthy once you get a bit older! I was falling apart and it was all too much. Now I like to surf when it’s on and go to the gym. Weights and others things like lunges and burpees are so much better for shortening, aging, tiring muscles.
Who inspires you?
Kelly Slater. How that bloke has remained at the top of the surfing game for so long is incredible. I tend to be inspired by anyone that is really good at their job. I buy into the theory that if you’re not moving forward, then you’re going backwards. A bit like the property market – your house value may not have decreased but if it’s flat-lining, all you’re achieving is interest for the bank.
What kind of relaxer are you? Active or do you like to sit quietly or read, etc? What do you like to do to relax?
Active, active, active. Work stops you doing stuff so if you’re not working why not do stuff? If I sit around I get stressed because I feel like I’m wasting my time off. I’d rather be working.
What is something you are passionate about that isn’t family, work or sport? Can you tell us about that?
Russian fudge. Well any fudge. How can something so simple and sugary be stuffed up so often from high-end expensive confectionery companies? They should know better. Why can’t they all just go get the Alison Holst cookbook and all do it how it’s meant to be done.
