Stu Smith, co-host of The Breeze Waikato Weekdays answers 4 questions in 4 minutes for Grandparents NZ
What do you like to do to stay fit and healthy?
I was mountain biking and running 1/2 marathons before a back issue so now I watch runners and mountain bikers while I’m out walking instead. Which I can tell you is not as exciting – I’m also on a food regime where I don’t eat anything remotely fun. No bread/caffeine/alcohol/sugar.
What would be a good theme song for your life?
Everything hurts! Wait that’s “Everybody hurts” isn’t it but I think we should change the title – Cos everything hurts when I put my feet on the floor first thing in the morning!!
What is your favourite thing about life in the Waikato?
Now that’s a hard thing to pinpoint. It’s a toss up between the incredible summers, the abundance of feijoas in Autumn, the leaves that fall from the trees downwards and not sideways like they do in Wellington, the Waikato river that passes through our city. Gosh there are too many things to single out – did I mention the feijoas?
Where was your last holiday and how was it?
Holiday? With 3 Kids? Let’s call it a mini break instead. It was amongst tall trees and a snow-peaked mountain. Sounds like Queenstown doesn’t it? Nope. It was Stratford. My family are from Taranaki so we went to visit a brand new great nephew. We spent time on the farm mainly drinking cups of tea and nattering. Great fun!!
