I like chips but I’m not keen on the frozen ones although happy to buy them from the fish and chip shop. I’m probably telling my grandmother how to suck eggs, but the following are the easiest chips I’ve ever made and they taste good too.
1 medium potato per person (so 2 potatoes for 2 people etc.)
1 Tablespoon of butter chopped into little bits.
Garlic salt (or whatever you like)
Turn the oven onto 230 degrees F. Chop the potatoes into chips. Rinse them under the tap and dry in a clean tea-towel. Place the chips onto a baking dish lined with baking paper (saves cleaning the dish afterwards). Spread the chopped butter over the chips, and sprinkle with a little garlic salt. Bang back into the oven.
After 15 minutes move the chips around so that the melted butter is smeared over them. Bake for a further 15-20 minutes until the chips are golden.
