Do you want to feel like doing something worthwhile while you’re at home? Especially during the different levels of Lockdown? Did you know that you could do heaps of volunteer work from home?
I googled ‘volunteering NZ’ and lo and behold, up came some volunteer work sites which I explored. There are many organisations that need and would love help, you just need to find the right one for you.
Some of the work that I found which could be done at home for different charitable organisations were:
- Administration and Office Work
- Marketing, Media and Communications
- Accounting and Finance
- Cat feeding (of communities of strays – would have to be in your locality)
- Homecraft work including woodwork (making things such as birdhouses); knitting baby clothes, blankets and handmade toys which could be sold later at charity shops to raise finances.
If you have skills in any of these areas, there is ‘homework’ for you.
For me? I already crochet little baby hats for premature babies which I’m saving to give to my local hospital, but I’m also going to crochet knee rugs for charity shops for when Lockdown is over. I’ve already ordered wool online to be delivered this week.
